    Hi Folks..

I am currently using Adobe premier to edit my first video session.
Its not finished yet as i need more footage to add but i intend saving the finished article to dvd.
What other software will i need or will premier convert it to a format which is dvd compatible ?

    Cheers
    Steve

Depends which version of Premiere you have but it should be able to encode to MPEG-2 , then you need authoring/burning software to make your MPEG-2 files into DVD spec folders.

There are lots of program to do this priced between about £50 to £15,000

    I am using Premier v6.
My dvd burning software is Nero Burning rom v6.

Could yo suggest any alternatives if this is not suitable. I am also looking for an idiots step by step guide to put me on the right road to saving and converting file types

    Many thanks

Good advise for creating DVD's can be got from www.dvdrhelp.com

Sounds like the only additional software you need to make the DVD's is authoring software.
I've also got Premiere 6 and Nero and have just ordered Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 from www.dabs.com for £25. This should be a good starting point.

Sorry to hijack but I have a similar query.

Just purchased a Sony laptop as a pressy (running XP Pro) and it includes the following:

    Adobe® Photoshop® Elements
    PictureGear Studio™
    DVgate™
    Adobe® Premiere®
    SonicStage™

The machine has a built in combo drive that can burn CDs but not DVDs (although it will read them) At this point, that's not a total disaster as I'd like to try burning some SVCD's.

I know not all DVD players can cope with these, but assuming I have one that can, do I need any additional software to actually burn the CD or will any of the above software allow me to do this?

    Thanks.
