As many of you are aware, AVForums is constantly striving to improve security for its classifieds users. To this end, we would like to recommend an application created by the Post Office called EasyID. To summarise; the app requires users to create an account and upload their passport and drivers license [which it then authenticates] to create a verified digital ID. This digital ID can then be shared with others as a confirmed proof of identity.

This has numerous benefits for AVForums Classifieds - not least for the trading of vouchers or high-end desirable items whereby fraudulent practices are most frequently perpetrated - and could, potentially, eliminate the need for on-thread verification, as any members entering into a trade agreement would be able to share their authenticated ID via PM in order to complete a transaction.

It works as follows:
  1. Users create an account and upload identity documents such as a passport and driving license. These documents are then verified by the Post Office to create a digital version of the persons confirmed identity.
  2. Once the ID has been created, a user can then share their confirmed identity with someone else. For example; once a member has reached an agreement in the classifieds and gone to PM, they can go into the app to share their confirmed identity with the other user and vice versa. The App offers options [via radio buttons] regarding which information is to be shared [name/address/phone number etc] and then generates an email link or QR Code for the recipient to click on for verification.
Below is a link to the site which contains much more information along with the App links for IOS and Android.

EasyID

EasyID appears to be an extremely secure and legitimately useful application which offers as an additional layer of security for all classifieds users. As such, we encourage all members to create one.
