I have run an extra coax to another room by splitting one of the cables after the isolator.
I purchased another V box of ebay which is the same as my existing box.

The idea being we can move the viewing card from one box to the other if we want to view in the other room

I have placed my viewing card in the recently purchased box but after booting it seems to stick with "AP:52" on the display and the heart symbol flashing.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

I didnt think the viewing cards were tied to any particular VM box are they?

Any box not sourced from Virgin Media will not work in conjunction with Virgin's cable feed and TV services. Virgin Media retain ownership of all STBs so the box you've purchased is technically stolen property. Every valid box requires a valid PIN card that corresponds to the account at the address it is being used. Virgin will not issue a PIN card for any STB not sourced via Virgin. PIN cards are not interchangeable between STBs.

oh dear. I should have checked before buying one eh!
So the card I have for the V Box in the bedroom will only work with that box?

Can I buy a box and card from VM without taking another subscription?

Each card is tied to the box it was registered to when installed.

You can rent another box from Virgin and this box will access whatever package you already subscribe to. You don't need more than one subscription and the same subscription covers all additional boxes you have at that address in association with your Virgin Media account at that address.
