How much would you need to spend to get a big improvement in 2ch audio? Any recommendations?

Rotel will be a big improvement... Bryston even bigger, particularly if you have difficult speakers...

I think so, then the Bryston is probably an overkill...

I find that receivers don´t have much detail, with the Rotel it was a huge difference, for instance a CD of a piano + cello sonata, with the receiver, (and a reasonably powerful one too, Onkyo 787), you could only ear the one soloing, the background was blurred, with the extra power I could ear both very detailed, the same with every disc, plus better bass and treble...

How much does the Rotel or Bryston cost?

    Cheers.

I have no idea of the prices over there, check the net, or wait for any more posts...

Sure Nic, the Brystons are great, but the improvement from the receiver to the Rotel was probably more than when I got the Bryston, except for the Rotel clipping with my difficult speakers at higher volumes...
