We have a v small room, and we've gone all minimalist with a philips LCD, and want to add surround rear effects only, whilst using the television to deliver the left/front/right. A big step down from the tannoy floorstanders we did have, but a necessary sacrifice I'm afraid.

I have a Yamaha DSP-AX620 - can I run the digital out from my Pioneer and use ONLY the rear speaker terminals, or am I going to blow something up? I appreciate volume control would be a palaver but can put up with that. Or do I need to run the pre outs from the yamaha to the stereo in on the TV, setting the amp to deliver a phantom centre through the the left/right channels?

I'd just try it but I fear for my safety.
