cue: piece of tumbleweed blowing across the screen

Plasma forum seems quiet this week too.

Plasma and LCD forums between them normally have at least 250 viewing at any time during the working day

That would be a bit silly then as Seany quit the General Chat forum ages ago as he was another that didn't like the deterioration in the atmosphere here.

Maybe people are taking time out after Stuarts post? Agree though, its been ghostly here over the last few days..................

Also Seany left over the (repeated) comments he quite rightly found offensive by one or two members, and their aggressive attitude in defending them, not the forum overall. He is sadly missed though.

I suppose it not going to help the perception and enjoyment of the forum if a senior moderator is continually makeing inferences to general chat and how its deteriated.

I understand you have issues with way general chat has been populated and used over the past year or so Ian, but I don't think making negative comments about it here is a 'positive' step to improving that.

I also understand you don't seem to like certain posters and their attitudes and posting styles. From you postings in the past and replies to myself, its been reasonably obvious that I have been one of those posters.

Would it not be better to offically talk to us in private etc - rather than make general comments in here - especialy from your postion of 'supermod'
I have taken onboard Stuarts comments and warning and intend to at least try to curb some of my responses in threads.

However, making gerneral disparaging remarks - that are intrepreted at least by myself as a commentary on how 'I' am destroying the 'atmosphere' is not helping me feel included in the community, and therefore less likely to be trying to better it by being helpful and mindful of its wishes - I am sure that others may feel the same way.

I commented on the point raised by Decadence and as it states in my signature, my personal opinions are my own and I was clearly stating a personal opinion.

I understand that if we were talking about football, politics or stamp collecting, your views are not related in anyway to the running of the forums.

However, you are commenting on the functioning and situation of the forums themselves - and as someone that is percieved ( real or not ) to have considerable input into running or at least day to day operations on the forums, your comments can be taken ( rightly or wrongly ) as 'more' than that of the musing of a random poster.

It's the fact that you posted "he was another that didn't like the deterioration in the atmosphere here"

That made me feel and interpret that as a dig at myself and fellow regular posters on this forum.

Whether you ment that or not, thats how it comes across. I don't want to get into an arguement and get myself banned for no reason - but i think its important to at least put across how I feel about comments being made and how it makes me look at the forums in light of the issues that have been raised recently.

However some people might look at myself as a poster, I am not here to 'cause trouble for amusement' unlike some high profile posters in the past - simply to talk, discuss and debate and be part of the community - whether my debating style and percieved attitude is a problem is another separate issue.

to be honest i never knew or saw much of Seany's posts, but if he didnt like it here, why didnt he just stop posting, why would he quit and then get banned? i dont get it, i would just stop posting
i think General chat is my favourite part of the forum and i make an effort to visit it a few times a day, i agree with Ethics Gradient, that a private email would to offenders would stop them posting any offensive material etc, but overall like any communtiy i think there will be members that agree and those that dont , but its like any community!

cripes...let it be known that my comment was tongue in cheek...

:lease:

He didnt get banned for being banned, if you see what i mean :D as stuart explained a while ago, he has been banned in case he chooses to return in the future, when i assume his membership can be re-instated or "un banned". :)

Blimey, lets all calm down now...

Deterioration in atmosphere? What atmosphere? lol ignore me

I know quite a lot of other people have moved to a different forum. That might explain things.

yeah, sorry guys - been busy at work recently...

seany, who's he?

The direction of this thread has given me a idea - how about a "Where are they now" / "Remember so-and-so" thread?

I myself have fond memories of my early forum days, even before joining.

One of the names that sticks in my head is Squirrel God, who was somewhere in the top 5 posters (quantity, that is!), with his little Honda Civic avatar!

My forum viewing habits have probably changed over time and I no longer frequent the plasma forum (the main reason I used it was to plan my purchase of a new plasma screen) so there are probably hundreds of members who are still around but I just don't see anymore.

Aaaah, those were the days....*plays that music from the Hovis ad*

Don't remember Squirrel God but a few of the people who I thought were/are pretty cool this year in their own way, either they knew their stuff or were interesting to read, sadly no longer posting at the moment...

Taz
Seany
Master Rahl
Sinzer

...Hornydragon gets a special mention as it's been a week almost, and that is an eternity in his book!!!!!
