    Hi

I need an active, adjustable, line-level sub/speaker crossover for a new project.

The Paradigm X-30 seems a likely candidate. The problem is finding one over here in Denmark.

Can anybody recommend a UK stockist or an alternative active crossover of hifi quality?

    Thanks
    Nimby

    Thanks ej

I have looked at the BK module on their website but found the lack of technical info a problem. No idea what frequencies are available or their slopes.

They also have the specs for their smallest plate amp superimposed on the same webpage which confuses matters still further. :)

Price is attractive if it's truly hifi quality. :smashin:

I think I can feel an email coming on... :D

I'd be interested to hear any information you get hold of. I expect they'll be interested to hear about the website error too! :)

    okay ej.

I'll see what I can get out of them (BK).

Very helpful when I enquired about their plate amps.

There's another active crossover readily available from our old friend Behringer.
The CX2310 is about twice the price of the BK (over here in Denmark anyway).

Without more data from BK I can't really compare them.

But I'll keep you informed of any progress. :smashin:

Just to add a note quickly for anyone else who may be interested, if money were no object then you'd struggle to find something better than the BSS Omnidrive (or for home use, the Minidrive
http://www.proaudiokit.co.uk/eShop/show_product.php?ref=1266 ) but they're far pricier than you probably have in mind Nimby. :)

    Hi

Thanks for the heads-up on the M&K unit. I'm afraid a fixed crossover point and passive cicuitry isn't quite what I'm looking for. But thanks anyway.

Tom at BK kindly sent me some diagrams, instructions, slopes and curves for their sub filter unit. The figures he gave me don't yet match the website.

Unfortunately, though active and adjustable, the BK unit isn't a crossover. So the speakers can't be rolled off to reduce their bass load. Which would allow the sub to do its thing at very low distortion in comparison with the speakers trying to do bass. Funny, I never thought I'd ever say that!

I think I'm going to have to try and obtain the Behringer CX2310 online. It's over a hundred quid retail locally but a bit of searching has turned up a couple of discounted examples that may still be available. :)

That looks to have the right functionality Nimby but bear in mind that the SNR isn't great if you're planning to run your main speakers through it too and that it only has balanced inputs so really you'll need direct injection boxes to change your unbalanced signal to a balanced one. :)

I do wish you hadn't said that ej. :suicide:

SN (typically) >91-93dB? The Behringer crossover was highly recommended on another forum for precisely this application.

Don't like the sound of these injection boxes. More expense and more boxes between me and my music. :(

    Thanks

I have never tried to buy anything on US eBay. Not yet anyway.

6 bids already suggests some interest which might push the price up later..

Postage looks likely to be a bit steep and I'd need a European voltage PS too.

    Support if it fails?

    Dunno.

    Decisions-decisions. :)

Beatles of Toronto was offering an X-30 in the sales ads forum some time ago but the thread seems to have died on its feet.

Any chance of a reprise, or was it too rude to reprint?

Not really. I just said (politely) that I didn't really want to discuss the project publicly until I had some of the bits delivered.
Last night I wasn't even sure it was technically possible.
But things are falling rapidly into place and some of my new toys should be on their way in the post by now. :)

That's fair enough, I'm always interested in a good project though so keep me posted as and when if you don't mind. :smashin:
