Not strictly HTPC, but PC related.

I've installed an upgrade from 98 to XP. I've now got my internet connection up and running and selceted the online activation.

It couldn't see my existing connection, so I let it use the modem to dail a server.

it dialed, the server answered, it then dropped the line and said couldn't get a connection. Tried this a few times.

Ok, so i tried the telephone no. It was an answering machine at the other end saying I couldn't register a beta copy of XP and I had to email some address.

So I'm stuffed I cant activate on the net, and I cant hone using the number in windows.

I downloaded all the latest patches (the CD already had SP1 on int) hoping the phone number would get updated. Still no joy

anybody else had this problem and how did you solve it.

If not does anybody have a phone no they used for activation>

    thanks in advance

That was a very particular kind of coughing, known as *coughing* I believe. It occurs when an individual totally accidentaly eats a CDR that induces *coughing*. Precise *coughing* can result in the desired *cough* being *coughed* and removing the need to *cough* certain *coughs*.

    If that was clear?

You obviously cleared your throat before reading it.

Not buying software? I never mentioned that, just coughing.
