Ooo I like this and it seems the perfect contender for my mom pair with an iPad so she can watch tv in the kitchen.

It reviewed well at it's original £250 price point so should be excellent value at it's reduced cost. I suppose the only question would be whether or not a significantly upgraded replacement is imminent and if so how the two components compare.

      Thanks for the Review Steve.
A nice balance between Sound, Size, & Price. Shame it does not support AirPlay 1 or 2, especially, as you pointed out, it would not look out of place next to a MacBook. From the price drop, it does feel like a new version is on the horizon.

I must say, though, that this one picture made we want a slice of buttered toast! :D

Where do you put the bread and is there an option for a muffin warmer?

Didn't know this was out at this price. Last month I picked up the Marshall Kilburn for £159 and am very happy with it, great sound and pumps out way more volume than the specs would have you believe. Would love to have compared it with this.
Last year I bought the Monitor Audio Airstream and I thought it sounded awful, I know it doesn't have the battery but it sits on my desk as a dust collector. Biggest waste of £120 I've ever spent.

No, but it does come with some snap-on pieces to convert it into a 60's style Radio...

The price reduction has only just been announced, and takes affect from the 1st of October. I spoke to AE and the new price isn't because there's an upgrade coming, it's just because there are so many wireless speakers now that they felt a lower price was needed to remain competitive. At £249 it was a good buy, but at £149 it's an absolute bargain.

That makes great commercial sense as well as being great news for potential purchasers
I guess we've all held off on buying something in case the reason it's discounted is because a newer better version is going to come out, only to finally buy it & 1 week later, sure enough, there's the newer version!

I completely understand and that's why I posted, because based on my conversation with AE, you don't have to worry about them suddenly releasing a better model.

This sort of product probably needs a comparison review - so how does it sound compared with an Apple HomePod? Or a Sonos One?

Could this thing possibly look any more ugly...why didn't AE just finish it in housebrick red to complete the effect? Real shame when you have to kick a product into touch cos it galls you just to look at it.
