I have been meaning to try this for a while but finally got round to trying this out yesterday. The Loewe VGA port only allows 640x480 @ 60Hz , but the image is very sharp. The laptop is a Compaq Armada E500 running WinDVD. I tested Toy story 2 and Gladiator and both looked excellent. One thing that suprised me was that even though both films are anamorphic they looked non anamorphic from an aspect point of view when viewed through the VGA port. Is this normal with HCPC setups?

Hmmm, no this is not normal. My Projector for example has a memory bank specifically set for Anamorphic titles. Is there something in the TV that you can switch?

It is probably not anamorphic because the 640x480 signal is 4:3 ratio not 16:9. So it needs zooming, or the auto aspect ratio thingy with black bar recognition.
