Is the Taiwanese PC specialist trying to move on the Home Cinema market?

Acer has just notified us about their new K750 projector, which is the world's first 1080p beamer equipped with hybrid laser-LED light technology.

The K750 projector uses both LED and laser light sources, which is said to significantly improve colour brightness when compared to high-pressure mercury lamps. This technology also increases the light-source lifetime to 20,000 hours in ExtremeECO mode and enables as much as 90% power savings.

Acer says the hybrid light-source technology enables flexible colour settings and a wider color gamut up to 85% NTSC and offers colour fidelity through a system of three independent colour lighting sources.

The HDMI port delivers uncompressed digital signals and multi-channel audio so it looks as though they've an eye on the home cinema market as well as D-Sub and HDMI connections.

The K750 features instant on/off capability, which means no cool-down period is needed after turning the projector off, which is more a boon in the business and education world.

The projector sports a grey-and-white portable design and the control pad is embedded on the gray and metal surface.

The Acer K750 will be available later this month at a price of around £1,700.

Umm..Casio has had a LED Laser hybrid projector out for some time. They are pretty nice. They don't have 1080p yet though...so I guess this is the first 1080p one.
