Accoustic Solutions DS535??

Hello there, i am thinking about buying the Accoustic solutions DS535 for my dad for his birthday. Its only £100 and i doubt the sound quality will be all that great but will probably suit him fine! The question is, it says it will fit any dvd player, i know very little about the subject and would simply like to know if this home cinema kit is likely to be able to hook up to the tv so he would get good sound quality during tv films etc. as well as with dvd's? Is this the case with most home cinema kits?
