Your right, I hadn't realised the significance that it is essentially an away game. Shame they don't buy the widescreen version for each away game.

Now, if only they could increase the bitrate then this would be perfect

It is sky that are doing the production and selling it all around the world. No turkish tv company was deemed capable of providing the coverage. Thats why its widescreen

Just switched the game on during extra time and the PQ is actually very good (SKY Sports). The ITV broadcast (Dsat) ain't that bad either but showing a bit more blocking and smearing of the grass, interesting to compare the same feed from the two broadcasters.

Forget the penalty saves (not great efforts from Milan) but the stop by Dudek from Shevchenko with a few minutes to go is the stuff of legend.

Not a great fan of the modern Liverpool team but they did themselves and the country proud.

What a brilliant game - has to go down as one of the best games that i've ever seen and an outstanding final! To come back from 3-0 down against Milan is superb and I reckon if they had of kept pressing after the 3rd they could have won it in normal time. Still going more defensive at that stage is understandable. How Dudek made the 2nd save of that double save I do not know - a mixture of luck and instinctive reactions but if he hadn't of made it then we'd have seen Milan holding the cup!

Gerrard was absolutely superb though. His passing was superb and when he moved into the right back role in the 2nd half nothing got passed him. Carragher was also fantastic and even though the whole team shone tonight I feel that these 2 players were outstanding.

Anyway, well chuffed for Liverpool, they really deserve this cup and whilst the "Big" three bailed out of Europe they flew the flag to the end.

Agree with Starburst about the PQ.

Best one I've seen on ITV for a football match but not quite as good as Sky.

Also noticed that there was a delay of just over a second or so on the ITV broadcast as opposed to Sky?

guys - just a quick question - last night myself and millions of other football fans were REDS for the evening - so many dodgy wigs and crys of "calm down, calm down" i watched the game with a villa fan , a chelsea fan, a birmingham fan and me a west brom fan.

so why do you feel the need to slag of united and the toffees? just rejoice in winning - or is slaging off the opposition more important? there are times for partisan retric and times when you should really be gracious and shut up.

(you can rub it in down the pub in a couple of weeks :smashin: )

Absolutely magic - its only sinking in this morning! I was at the semi, the quarter finals and some of the gropu games. I didn't try hard enough for a final ticket, and at half time I was glad I didn't!! By the end I was wishing I did!!

No need to slag any other team off, just bask in the glory. 5 times!!! Welcome back Big Ears!

    Fantastic night by all accounts!

One question here....didnt Harry Kewell leave the pitch injured? I could have sworn I saw him jumping up and down with the rest at the end...must have strained an eyelash? ;)

    AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

At Half Time I could not believe we were being hammered by AC Milan!
Their passing and movement was so crisp.
I was getting calls & texts from everyone laughing at me...

But I still had faith, however slight... that Liverpool FC could comeback to win the game... if Milan can score 3, why not Liverpool?

This is exactly the text I sent out at Half Time in reply:

"I can still hope... It's not over til the fat Italian lady farts ... as soon as she stops *****ing on us!"

And boy is the sweet smell of success one to saviour forever!!
Liverpool FC have triumphantly walked on all over Europe...

    CHAMPIONS
    OF
    EUROPE!

Granada would I guess have been responsible for the UK end of the program, studios, pundits etc and taking the feed from the ground and packaging it for the ITV network.

Well I couldn't fault Sky Sports not least with the post match coverage.

Personally I was moved to tears (well it was a very emotional night ;) ) by the montage they put together at the end to the Beatles track 'In my life' - great stuff.

It still hasn't really sunk in and at times throughout the day I have found myself going somewhat misty eyed and drifting off to thoughts of the match.

However much you hate Sky, Sky sports is a million miles ahead of ITV for football coverage, the picture was superb, ITV looked alot better than the AWFUL world cup coverage but still worse than Sky

And the build up, the match and the post match coverage was a joy to watch, well done sky and WELL DONE LIVERPOOL

Fantastic night one to remember forever!

It's something to do with A.B.U(Anyone But United) disease i would of thought. For some reason people like to jump on the back of anything/one that is succesful/wealthy/supported to make them feel better. Sad

I think you right there Pooon. I'm a 4th genaration West Brom fan, theres been a season ticket holder in the family since living memory. But i grew up in an Aston Villa side of town. So i now have a pathalogical hatred of VILLA (got beat up at school almost every week for about 10 years) The only thing in this world that i hate its VILLA :D

So now if you asked me would i rather have West Brom win the league or Villa go out of business? thats a tough call!! :D

Credit to Milan, they were superb in the first half. Kaka was absolutely running the show! At half time, there was no way we were going to get 3 past Milan. But as soon as Stevie netted that header, the Milan defence parted like the red sea. Smicer showed Harry Kewell how it should be done. Gerrard and Carragher were immense. Xabi Alonso's passing is legendary. And the celebrations at the end were unbelieveable. Just a great, great night, and the fans came out in force (500,000!?) to greet the heroes back.

It'll be interesting to see what Benitez does in the summer, but I'm expecting some big changes to the squad. And it would be a travesty if UEFA don't allow us to defend the title next season. But I'm rambling now, and in danger of going off on one.............. :boring:
