Ok I'm about to order either a Sharp LC22AD1e or a Samsung LW22A13WX.

I was set on the Sharp, but I've realised the Samsung sounds slightly better on paper at least:
    Sharp resolution is 845x480 | Samsung is 1280 x 720
Sharp brightness is 430cd/m2 | Samsung is 450cd/m2
Sharp contrast is 500:1 | Samsung is 600:1
Sharp speakers are 2x5W | Samsung is 2x7W
Sharp has no PC input | Samsung does
Sharp has freeview built in | Samsung doesn't, but I have separate box anyway
    Sharp is £960 | Samsung is £790

I buying primarily for playing consoles. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated, or I'm going for the Samsung.

Go for the samsung. The new Sharps are using low res panels and aren't getting the rave reviews their previous generation got. Maybe resting on their laurels?

For a console freak, hi res panels are a good thing. Especially if you mod your xbox and can output 720p - perfect match for the samsung. (does it have component in?)

That's the only downside I can see - it doesn't have component in - but neither does the Sharp. It does have DVI-I though, which you can mod an Xbox to do can't you?

Gone for the Samsung. Hope it's good.
