About to get 22" - ASUS VH226H, or Viewsonic VX2260wm?

They both have identical specs, and great customer reviews, but some online reviews seem to be more favourable towards Viewsonic.

I think the monitor itself looks criminally naff, unlike the chunky ASUS.

If there really is noticeable picture difference I'll change, but the bright blue LED on the Viewsonic is also offputting.

It will be used for PC and 360, so let me know what you think.

I have to order by lunchtime tomorrow, so any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Alex

Not sure about the ones you are looking at BUT anytime I have seen an Asus monitor the image quality has been particularly good with vibrant colours whereas often monitors seem wishy washy for want of a description

I bought the Viewsonic one recently based on the good reviews it was getting despite the fact i wanted a Samsung monitor. Regretted it at first but when it arrived i was amazed at the quality of the screen. Looks Stylish and great quality. Watching a few HD videos and they are stunning. Highly recommended it.

I have the VH226H and am very happy overall.

The picture is very thick and vibrant, it takes some tweaking (both the monitor and graphics settings), but after a few hours I've got it down real good.

My pc has that illustrious 'iMac' feel to it now - particularly as the monitor itself is so attractive. The frame is chunky, assertive and bold, but doesn't take up to much room on the desk.

The only complaint is that I have one dead pixel, you can only see it on dark backgrounds, where it shows up blue, but this is not often. As you can see from the reviews I got slightly unlucky, you probably won't have one.

The mode switching is great, I have been moving between XBOX and PC at the touch of a button - the only thing I would like to be able to do is assign the colour profiles (such as gaming, theatre) to automatically activate when I change inputs, but this isn't much of an issue.

Is the VH226H a glare display? Can't find that on the asus hp...

Who cares about hdmi? As long the display has got dvi everything is fine! Just use a dvi hdmi adapter... You don't need the display for DD5.1 hd :rotfl:

Glare? Don't know what that means. I care about HDMI because I'm using this for PC, XBOX and Mac all at once, so I need all 3 inputs available.

just bought the VH226H from amazon on offer (£147) - must say it is a very smart monitor. Looks the part on the desk, very simple design, sturdy feel, tilt is excellent

image-wise - very sharp. Currently the display for my PC but bought it for future use with a PS3 as well.

@ 1920x1080 games look crisp with no ghosting or blurring or delay. Movies the same. No dead / bright pixels either :smashin: extremely chuffed

think it's matt, I can't be sure though as I dont know what you mean by a glossy LCD :suicide:

after doing some research into what monitor to get that was 16;9 ratio and a response time of 2ms with hdmi imput for my ps3 i opted for the viewsonic which i must say that i am absolutly delighted with after a gud sesh on fifa09 and gt5 2nite.

my only gripe if u can call it that is the sound quality isnt the best but apparantly thats the norm with monitors.which leads me 2 ask 4 help as im not gr8 with audio but wots my best option for improving sound from my monitor for my ps3 it has 3.5mm audio in and out.
