Very good film. I think Jack will be picking up another bald fella in a few months

However, It has to be one of the most depressing films I have ever seen. They should hand out complimentary razor blades as you leave

I am looking forward to seeing this.

The most depressing film I have seen recently was another Nicholson film, The Pledge

This has Hope Davis in it, who I think rocks, but seeing as it is from the guy who did Election (so bleak, dark and depressing) I think I will give it a miss.

The only good bit in election was the ending with the milkshake.

I've seen this advertised and get the feeling it is going to be something like As Good As It Gets. Am I way off base having that opinion?

For those with delicate stomachs I would warn you that Kathy Bates gets her kit off

This is not really anything like As Good As It Gets but it does have the bleakness of the Pledge, then some...

This has the whole film from Jack's perspective and for the middle third of the film where Jack hits the road he is mainly on his own

This without doubt is his finest performance in a long time, maybe his best since the Shining

    yes he is that good

two certainties for the Oscars IMO

    Jack for best actor
Daniel Day Lewis for best supporting

I have just returned from the cinema after seeing the best film I have seen for ages.If Jack misses an oscar for this performance their is no justice.

His performance is better than DDL in gangs of new york. It may to some, be a depressing film but I have to say I could not stop myself laughing out loud on at least a dozen occasions.

I agree with posters - Jack is on top form. I don't think the film is bleak... just realistic. Problem is in reality Schmidt is how most of us will end up (if we're lucky!!!). However the final scene does give us hope that some of our actions, however small, can have a positive and possibly profound effect on someones life.

Kathy Bates tits......i see what women mean when they complain of sagging:D

Onto the film its better than the Pledge, which i thought was garbage, but maybe not as good as "Good as it gets".
It is at times slow, but more than anything its a film about observations of real life and i quite enjoyed it.
