Mine sits in between the front left and right speakers, for aesthetics as well as being convenient.
I know it’s not the ideal position for my sub in my room, but to be honest I’m a lazy sod and can’t be bothered to experiment and move it.

Another principle people try is placing the sub in the listening position (the position where you yourself would normally sit) and then using a SPL meter and a test disc take measurements from different possible subwoofer positions and see which one gives the best response, then put the sub there, its easier on the back than humping a sub around the room.

Bottom line trial and error, unless you’re me of course ;)

No straight answer except........where it sounds best in your room. Too many variables with room acoustics, nature of furnishings and wallcoverings etc etc. Experiment.
