Had a week away 26th August to 1st September and took the opertunity to have a tour around some parts of the country we had not been to (and some we had) Pressed the shutter about 1,000 times and have wittled the down to about 600 and have selected a few for your interest. If you get bored and don't make the end of the line I will understand - although C & C will be welcome. They are really holiday snaps but in amongst them are a few I am please with.

We started off on Sunday 26th August, leaving Sudbury and decided to make our first stop in Bridgenorth, Janet had seen it on the TV and liked the look of it. It is a really nice town with amazing views, buildings and friendly people (who all seemed to be eating chips !).

Ironbridge, just a few miles up the road where we decided to stay for the night. We stayed at a nice Inn just outside of town. A few pictures from here

21 - Was trying to get a sunset over the bridge but was a bit late.

    Day 2

22 - In the morning there was a strange red glow coming through the curtains, we soon found out that it was the sun reflecting off of 4 huge cooling towers from the nearby power station.

We then decided to stay in Ironbridge the following night as we had stuck lucky with our room, but rather than stay local we decided to travel west - to Wales !! We ended up going up Snowdon on the mountain railway after first stopping at an RSPB Osprey watch where we played with some telescopes and I realised how insignificant my 300mm lens was even with a 1.5 x crop factor !

25 - Inside the train - it is pretty cramped, most of the other occupants seemed to be Polish !

We came down taking loads of pictures on the way. Found only 1 garage between Snowdon and England on one of the main roads, that was full at the time and I didn't need any petrol, by the time England came I was running on fumes !

Anyway we got back to Ironbridge and the next morning set off for ...

    The Lake District !

We left Janets sister and started on a long route planned to take us to Keswick via the Wrynose and Hardnott Passses, lovely bits of road best tackled in a Caterham 7, but the old jalopy did OK.

Where it pays to find a B & B with a private drive - parking is nearly impossible there, the pull of Lake Derwent and many wonerful walking locations makes this a really popular place.

Some lovely shots mate, and proved to be enjoyable viewing.

#27 and the lourdes falls stand out....but the boats for hire is nice as well as a few of the compositional exercises...the winding railway track the isolated chimney etc.

You didnt bump into steve at the ironbride then:)

looks like a great few days tour...I wanna do it now.

Some great shots there, thanks for sharing them!

Reminds me of our summer holidays in the Lakes this year, having a 15 month old son in tow limited my photo opportunities tho!

Some nice photo's in there :)

Snowdon's great, i climb it a couple of times a year and it's always a different experience each time.

Funnily enough, i live very near to Bridgnorth and Ironbridge, very picturesque yet i never taken a single photo there!
