A simple question about connecting 5.1 surround sound to the PS3

Well I guess it is a simple question, but as I struggle to switch the tv on, you can imagine the trouble this is causing me.. And I have searched the forum but just cannot find anything relevant..:(

Ok I have a standard samsung (LE26r...) 26" HDTV with 1 HDMI connected to the PS3, and I have inherited some cheap and nasty 5.1 digital speakers with the standard different coloured leads from the speakers that need to plug in somewhere. There appears to be nowhere on the ps3 to connect and there only seems to be 2.1 speakers slots on the tv. Ironically I have an old dvd player that does have all the relevent sockets in the back.

Is it possible ?

Thanks in advance

You can't use it with the PS3, you could get adapters to possibly use it with the DVD player however (if it has an amp built in). 2 male phonos to a single stereo 3.5 female.

That's a blow but thanks anyhow..:(

So how do I get such surround sound on the ps3.. I use it in a spare room so it is only used for gaming - the dvd is not connected in there at the moment..

By either utilising the HDMI lead into a surround amp with HDMI inputs, or using the (optional) optical cable into a surround amp with optical inputs.
