After finding myself inexplicably quite liking the new Coldplay song 'Clocks', I thought I'd guage the Forum's view of the miserable *******.

Rush of blood to the head has been the CD most played in our household over the last couple of months.

And I haven't grown tired of it yet:smashin:

Coldplay are absolute quality in every sense of the word.

Both albums will prove to be timeless classics.

Love them but maybe Gwyneth can arrange a pow-wow for them with Bob Dylan before their next Brits type " world events " statement.

I have a feeling you might be right SG, their songs are already licensed for so many adverts and stuff. It's amazing how quickly they've become so well established.

I think the tune "Clocks" is one of the best tunes to come out of a UK band in the last year, a sublime tune IMO, a tune like "Clocks" can turn a band into instant superstars, which with the MTV plugging of the tune Coldplay are well on the way to be in the US IMHO. Im not convinced on the whole repotoire of Coldplay, but "Clocks" makes ROBTTH a special album.

And I want a "Loved the 1st album, and just 'like' the 2nd album" choice in the poll ;)

Also, I saw them on tour doing the 'parachutes' album a few times. I think the last time I saw 'em they were bored of playing the stuff. It was at a festival, if that's any excuse.

Haven't seen them live doing ROBTTH stuff...

Well Higs this is IMHO of course, “Clocks” is on a different stratosphere to “The Scientist” for a couple of reasons, first of the notes or riff the piano makes a perfect sound that means many listeners can instantly hook into the tune, hence it use so much on BBC ads just now, many tune have these “hook” onboard and “Clocks” also features a wonderful hook from Mr Martin in the form of his vocals where the refrain “woooo ooooo oooo” is another huge hook for the listener to join in, they can “get” the tune in these instances, now for me “The Scientist” is a different kettle of fish yes it has a catchy tune, but this only spark into life at the end of each repeat chorus IMO. So for me there is no comparison, Clocks is the lift off track off the album, listen in the coming months to the adverts. Clocks is amongst some good company for instant “hookability”, such as Blur “Song 2” (Peugot), The Turtles “Can You Dig It” (Vodafone), man theres loads.

BTW did any of you popsters catch the live performance of Clocks by Coldplay on the Brits last week, all I can say is that there seemed to be a cat jumping around inside the piano the amount of bum notes coming from ole Chrissy boy.

More concerned with perfecting his Stevie Wonder impression than hitting the right keys I reckon :D

CJROSS - Don't get me wrong, they're both great tracks. I just think that the overuse of the BBC of Clocks has somewhat tarnished it for me.

They put me to sleep faster than any other product on the marketplace, hey, I respect them musically, I like a few of their tunes, but in general they dont float my boat.

Saw them performing live and was amazed the keyboard played/vocalist was so animated, at this point they went up a couple of notches IMHO. I cant help but feel they trail along on Radioheads coat tales.

    Got Parachutes, thats enough.

I liked the first album - I think "Trouble" is one of the greatest songs of our, or indeed any other, age ;)

Not so keen on the new album though...

The ugly bloke lead singer brought Gwyneth down to the West Country to meet his parents - she left him two weeks later! :D
