I emailed the BBC this morning and asked:

And I have just got a reply:

Hmm, limited trials even on SkyHD? Curiouser and curiouser!

Let's put it this way. If they don't let us watch, they are going to be absolutely bombarded with emails/letters etc. Deliverably not letting people watch HDTV would be a complete waste of licence fee money. I believe that Sky has confimed that you'll be able to see the BBC transmissions (provided you have a HD box!).

No mention of the trials on BBC News...all this reminds me of the Nicam stereo tests in the late 80's :)

So they didn't answer your question then? Shame, but I honestly think they're so obsessed with Freeview that the trial is FreeviewHD and they focus on it, and treat SkyHD as a toy for a few geeks. I fully expect it will be available to all SkyHD owners, assuming it's out in time.

The BBC has to promote its feed on Freeview becuase it will require no sub

they cant well tell go go off and pay Sky x amount and x amount a month

they have to tell you how you will be able to watch it for FREE

Yes, agreed. But he did ask a direct question about SkyHD which they could have answered properly.

Not sure if the person would have been in a position to answer. Reading an article by the mirror, it suggests that whilst Sky have negotiated to Show the World Cup on Sky HD. No agreement has been reached with Telewest for the T-Drive but this is expected soon.

Therefore whilst the BBC article confirms that people will be able to see it on Sat and cable it does not confirm whether you can pick it up on any Sat and cable service and i cant see where it says you will be able to pick up with a FTA HD box and Sat dish.
