Hi!
Once every few years we see a flower or two on our small collection of cacti. Right on cue, this flower appeared in our garden, the first time we have seen one on this cactus in 5 years!
It was a bit tricky as the flower only fully opened after I went to work and was already nearly closed by the time I got home, so I had to wait for the weekend to catch this particular day worker!
The outer petals are almost translucent, a bit like insect wings, tinged with pink and only the deepest inner petals have the full yellow colour. So, here´s my entry:
Date Time Original: 2014-06-08T12:04:38+02:00
Exposure Time: 1/125
F Number: f8
Exposure Program: Not defined
ISO Speed Ratings: 400
Metering Mode: Pattern
Flash: Flash did not fire, auto mode
Focal Length: 105mm
White Balance: Auto white balance
Make: NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D90
I used Paintshop Pro X6 to edit the original to increase the contrast and saturation, add a vignette and soften the background and add a little sharpness to emphasise the subject.
Thanks for viewing!
