Hi I was just wondering if anyone could help me. Do Disney still do this limited release times for films on Blu-ray like they used to for DVD? I just remember that it became impossible to buy some of their platinum films on DVD because they would stop releasing it for a while if that makes sense. The only reason I'm asking is because I'm curious about if I'll need to buy Pinnochio when it comes out or if I can wait for a while before I purchase it. Many thanks for any help.

I think the Blu-Ray release will be just like DVD. It makes sense to Disney (in terms of profits and not flooding the maket and ending up in the bargain bin).

So buy when you can - I found pre-ordering the best way to get a good price, say Play.com or Amazon.co.uk offer good prices for early birds who place pre-orders months in advance. Importing used to be another option but you have the Region and now currency issue.

I still have Lion King and Alladdin SE DVDs (R1) to get rid of as they will not play in my PS3. :(

Buy it when you can because they'll probably stop it after a certain amount of time, and release it on 3D before another blu-Ray release comes around

On the other hand, when Sleeping Beauty came out, it was only a couple of weeks before it turned up in Amazon's 3 for 2 offer. So pre-ordering might not be the best policy.

I'm about to pre-order Pinocchio on Amazon UK - cheaper than Play and I can live without the pack of cards (although it looks nice, it probably won't be in the same case as the film so I'll have nowhere to put it).

I guess it depends on the film's popularity as to whether it's worth pre-ordering. I would say Sleeping Beauty's not as big / popular as Pinnochio (based on no factual evidence whatsoever!) I had the VHS Fantasia super duper box set for £50 or something but I never watched it. It came down to a tenner in the end because the shops had lots to get rid of. On the other hand, The Little Mermaid had just become scarce on laserdisc when I bought my laserdisc player. I never did get a copy (I had to wait until it was out on DVD, but by then it had been commercialised with awful music over the end credits). I've got some lovely Disney laserdiscs that I can't play any more - including Pinnochio, Aladdin and two versions of Beauty And The Beast (the Work In Progress version was superb) and they were all beautifully packaged.

I popped on here to see if anyone had found it cheaper, before I click the "order now" button :)

    I ordered from Amazon and @ £14.99 I doubt we'll find a cheaper pre-order price anywhere.

I was going to wait and see if this hit the 3 for 2 offers soon after release (I got stung pre-ordering Sleeping Beauty and that entered Amazon's offer within a couple of weeks of its release) but Pinocchio is my favourite of the early, classic Disney's so I've gone for it.

Can't wait to see it on Blu.
