It was RANSOM but now its DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS.

An old friend took me to see it yesterday and even at £3 a ticket it was overpriced by about £6

    It was AWFULL

No attempt was made to act my anybody and the two teen(?) male leads were like something of some school girl TV show.

Most of the story tried to hard ( and failed ) to be star wars like and the whole thing ( given the depth of the D&D world ) was a wasted oportunity.

Were were the galant Paladins or the OGRE armies ?

    What utter, utter crap

Imagine PHANTOM MENACE with the best character being JAR JAR BINKS

    Duncan,
I suggest you go to our web site at http://www.simplexfilms.net and check out Tony's movie review section. I think that you will find this very amusing! We all hate that film as well just for the record!

did you not watch the trailer, the poor quality was easy to see by the cgi which looked like it had been done in KIDPIX (worse than the shelby mustang in gone in 60 secs)!

Wait for lord of the rings to see something (hopefully) good of that ilk.

Not seen all of dungeons and dragons. (doesn't look any worse than some of the rubbish in the Phantom Menace)

The guys who designed the orcs in LOTR have spent too much time in games workshops. I know a lot of the big sequences will be stunning but I suspect the films themselves will suck.
(they themselves are good guys though)

The mustang is possibly the most impressive bit of CG I've seen in the last year.

Incidentally trailer shots are normally earlier temp versions. (thats why the trailer can come out before the movie...Forest).

I saw D&D last weekend. (I went with my sister and she paid...). Agree the film was poor. I tried to enjoy it, but it WAS bad. I know nothing of the board game (but I loved the cartoons!). A lot of the let down was due to the poor casting. Even Jeremy Irons was crap. Tom Baker made a fleeting appearance for about 2 minutes and out-acted the whole cast. The 10th Kingdom was much better. They screened the trailers for the Lord of The Rings trilogy - each film being screened at christmas over the next three years. I haven't read the book(s) but the trailers did look impressive. I'm not sure taking three years to show a trilogy is a good idea, I would have preferred maybe a six month gap between them. Like Back to the Future 2 & 3.

Maybe your mistaking the real car with the CG?

Maybe they screwed the shots at the final grade.

When I saw them they looked very impressive.

    what???????!!!!!!!
that is one of the worst pieces of cgi i have seen, other than the blocky ship at the end of star trek generations, or first contact. Jabba looks better in Star Wars, even though Han puts his hand through him on a few occasions.

the mustang looked so fake, when does a matte finished car provide so much reflection.

perhaps they ought to have added the background rather than the car, instead opting for a stunt driver rather than cgi crap.

Bad CGI? Hmmmm...how about the German destroyer sinking in U-571? The opening shot of this was truly dreadful. Made 'Jaws' look good [IMG]

I have been thinking about why you would like the cgi mustang in gone in 60. Were you referring to the harbour dramatics? They were very good, i was referring to the bridge jump, tell me you thought that was one of the cheapest bits of cgi you have ever seen, interstate '82 graphics ripped off.

Nope talking about the bridge jump.(I think : car jumps over a blue van or something and people below scatter? I've only ever seen the VFX reel) It looked fine when I saw it. I'm sure I've got a demo dvd from the relevant company knocking about with that very sequence. The only better bit of CG was the AME thing out of red-planet (check out the hydraulic hoses) just a pity the film was stinking.
