I liked BIA Hells Highway and the GOW series because they involved some level of strategy. COD3 was too 'shoot and run' and I really didn't enjoy it that much. So, with limited budget to spend on games, what would be a considered 'a must have game' that is suitable for the more mature 'boxer' (polite term for 'old git!') involves some strategy, action and reasonably good graphics. Not bothered about MP capability and I have yet to try an RPG game as there seems to be lots and I haven't a clue what they are like. So, what is your 'must have game'?

Play CoD on Veteran. It's a different game entirely.

Fallout 3 my personal fav at the moment but if you like strategic shooters may I suggest Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1/2?

Have you played the Rainbow 6 Vegas games? Very similar the Hells highway gameplay, where you play first person but also have to use cover in the third person view and you have to give your team orders.
    £8.99 @ play.com http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/918042/Tom-Clancy-Rainbow-Six-Vegas/Product.html
I also enjoyed James bond QOS.
To get the most enjoyment out of these games try playing them on the hardest level.

Fallout 3. It can be whatever game style you choose. Have a duke at a few reviews for it cos i could spend all day typing all the positives for it.

I think it would fit your bill.

Top three RPGs on 360 are (IMO) Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Mass Effect. Mass Effect is perhaps not as strategic as the other two (though you can play strategically by using the non-weapon-based powers you and your team have), but as has been said, both Fallout and Oblivion can be played any way you wish - slow and stealthy or aggressive and full-on, or a combination of both.

Although the COD series is very hectic, there is definitely a tactical element to them when you play on the harder difficulties, but not as much as R6V or GRAW (I haven't played these but know many who have).

Another one I've been considering for quite a while is Civilisation: Revolution. It's a strategic turn-based game, but it has received good reviews, and I used to love the Total War games on PC so think I'd be into it. This would definitely be more of a thinking game than any of the others.

Having spent over 120 hours since December playing it, if I had to choose one, my vote would go to Fallout 3. Game of the year 2008 for me.

Cheers for the replies, really helpful. Will look at R6V and Fallout 3 in particular, as well as the others mentioned. Tend to play on Normal difficulty for starters but will try the harder levels second time around. I guess I ought to at least try a RPG. Xbox is so damned addictive........:smashin:

I would say the 360s must haves are (in no order)

    Shooter
    Halo 3
    Gears of War 1
    Gears Of War 2
    Rainbow Six Vegas 1
    Rainbow Six Vegas 2
    Call Of Duty 4
    Left 4 Dead
    The Orange Box
    Bioshock
    Battlefield: Bad Company

    RPG
    Fallout 3
    Fable 2
    Mass Effect

    XBLA
    Geometry Wars 2
    Rez HD
    Castle Crashers
    PAC-MAN Championship Edition
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
    Portal: Still Alive

    Racing
    Forza 2
    Burnout Paradise
    PGR 3
    PGR 4

    Action/Adventure
    GTA IV
    Crackdown

    Music/Rhythm
    Rock Band
    Rock Band 2

There are plenty other good games that I would also buy but these were the ones that I think most people like (I tried to get as wide a variety of games as possible so I guess not to everyone's tastes).

    Battlefield: Bad Company

Strategy and tactics that are of your own making every time you play. Sniping, demolition, stealth, run and gun, vehicle command, medical and repair support, etc are all open to you across 16 MP maps. Beautiful environments and the best destruction engine on the console.

R6V and R6V2 (the better game) and Crackdown are some of the best games I have played.

If you like tactical a game of R6V2 online is a whole different beast, unlike CoD where it is run around randomly and probably die in 20seconds.

Has to be Fallout 3 - best value game I have ever played. The sheer size of it and the go anywhere nature is second to none imo. You can play it time and again. Has some action, some thinking things through and some stratergy to it so should fit the bill perfectly.
