Just seen this on Amazon at what looks like an amazing price but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this player or any idea if it played mpeg straight off the bat? Also any other problems with it would be great to know about.

Thats the direct link to it I think. Any help much appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by:

I know nothing of this machine but the tech. specs indicate it in theory supports a good range of formats, with a digital coax audio output.

Mpeg as in if i get an mpeg movie and burn it to CD it'll play without any issues of needing to specifically make a VCD from it.

I assume you're referring to a .MPG file on a PC that plays with something like Windows Media Player or somesuch.

If that's the case then no, I don't believe that it can .. indeed few if any DVD players can do this AFAIK without the file being converted as you describe.
