Thanks to this forum and after many weeks of reading people's views, I have purchased my plasma, and recieved this morning thanks to Nexmix.

It is a Pan 42PWD6 with desk stand complete with scart board and Quintro scart switcher, impressed so far, connected up to my Denon AV1 amp, Ageing Pioneer 717 DVD and Xbox

This is where some advice is needed I know contrast and settings should be reduced a little at the start what would you say the settings should go down to?

    All other advise welcome

    Thanks

Get the contrast down to say -10 or so for the 1st couple of weeks, it still looks OK. When it's run in, 100 hours or so, you need to set it up with a disc like digital video essentials, or failing that the THX optimiser on SW AOTC will be a start. They are delivered at +25, which is far too high anyway, you will probably end up somewhere close to zero.

Thanks for that that's the kind of help I need, shall I leave the brightness and colour alone?

You can turn down brightness if it helps you feel better! I'd leave it till you set it up properly, unless it's at the end of it's little slider.
