First I got an HD TV, then a blu-ray player, then some 5.1 speakers and an AV amp

All of which cost well over £1000, its great but in hindsight I wouldnt have bothered really..

I actually would have been happy with a quality up scaling DVD player like this Toshiba ...... or this one

and for sound probably this thing would have been more than adequate..

All of which would have saved me a SHED load of money..

Oh well you live and learn:rolleyes:

£1000+ for the lot, you did well. Enjoy what you have and don't believe a sound bar renders a 5.1 speaker setup + AV amp superfluous or inadequate.

EDIT - You didn't specify what you bought and which makes you so unhappy with your choices.

maybe the fims you watch dont bring out the full benifits of your setup and so yes a cheaper setup would have done,or if you watch alot of standard tv again the differance will not be a "wow" experience.

    :D

Well, imo "hindsight" is the appropriate word.

I don't know what you've bought, but would put money that the soundbar would sound rubbish if you downgraded.

If you're using a BD player to watch DVDs, you may well be right, if you're not fussy, I don't know what you're comparing though.

One thing I've learned about Hifi/HT kit is it's very difficult trying to see the benefits when you're moving up, because you're trying to justify the outlay.

It's extremely easy to hear the weaknesses when you move back down though ;)

Is there actually a point to this post or is it just a poor attempt at trolling?

If you've got an issue with your kit or would like help from people regarding getting the most enjoyment from it then let us know what it is that you're unhappy with.

As it stands your post is no more worthwhile than posting that you've bought a Ford Focus on a car forum, but wish you hadn't of bothered as you don't mind going on the bus.

My kit is all pretty good stuff, panasonic BD-35, Q acoustics 1010i system & a Sony STR-DA2400ES amp

And yes it does sound great, I still wish i had gone for the other stuff I mentioned tho, I know I would have been happier with it.
