As a "dedicated" believer (and owner) of many Tag products, this IS good news!

I notice he's carefully NOT saying that there will ever be any new TMA products.

"TMA will maintain ongoing Research and Development"

I'd guess this means developing new products?

Definately the best news for weeks!

Who's really bothered about any new product development at the moment, not me?

Give it a year or so when there's actually some new formats to support then ask...in the mean time I'll just be relaxing in front of my array of nice blue lights.

and I'll be sitting with a perpetual grin on my face, unable to put out of my thoughts that I've picked up a DVD32R for a saving of £1,900, an AV32R 7.1 Dual Processor for a saving of £1,400 and a 100x5R:7 for a saving of £1,800.

    Ker ching....

Smugness is a dreadful thing, but I'm wallowing in the feeling right now!

Give us all a laugh and go back to the dealer and ask them how much now for that kit :rotfl:
I'd love to see the look on their faces :smashin:

What will be really interesting now is to see what "changes" if any are made to the authorised dealers.

I'm sure the behaviour of some dealers towards TMA hasn't gone entirely unnoticed. Must be nice to have such a loyal bunch onboard. For some reason the mental image of hyenas springs to mind...

I definitely would like to see the expressions on any dealers face that knocked out kit at knockdown prices. Sick as a parrot doesn't even come close I'd imagine.

My dealer is (was?) offering a full spec AV192R (over 10.5ks worth of kit - PSM, DAB, FM etc) at 45% off. I wonder how much longer that's going to be available for now....

    Good news indeed.

I've just posted the text of that announcement to a friend and await his comments, following his return from holiday in a few days.

In the meantime, I'm happy to hear that it doesn't appear to be 'all dark times ahead' for Tag McLaren. Whilst I'll almost certainly never be in the market for their products (or any 'high-end' gear:( :D ), I believe in the presence of a high-end/aspirational market and am glad to see a company at the forefront of this category to post a more promising announcement.

Oh, why do I believe in the industry's requirement for this market sector? Er, well what else would you guys spend your hard-earned on?!? :smashin: And what else would there be to look at and read about in the magazines that I occasionally purchase...?:p

I was in Prestige Audio in Rickmansworth the other day, before the latest announcement and they indicated they would continue to sell TAG products. Interestingly, Sevenoaks Watfors, whom I purchased my AV32 from, have several TAG products going cheap, and are no longer on the dealers list on the TAG website.

Nic, try contacting, perhaps by phone, the dealers still listed on TAG's website.

Also,Rayleigh HiFi in Essex have been commendably loyal to Tag during the review period.

    Hi all,
you should all slow down and wait to see how it really goes on.

Tag stated they will continue HC development, but prior to that they also said many times there was nothing left to develop in HC at the moment apart from that scaler.
One should be very carefull with Udo Zucker, man with good vision but definitely not the one to trust.

Time will be the best judge
    :)

Frankly, a major part of Tag's customer proposition was not only that a bunch of upgrades was already available but that Tag was committed to producing upgrades for new technology which emerged at a later date. Whatever Tag says now this part of their customer proposition has been destroyed by recent events.

    Regards,

    Jules.

I think it is good news that they will now solely concentrate on HC products, thats got to be a good thing, and must be where Tags future lies. I think Nic was the one who said this may happen.

    Apologies.

However I was under the impression that the person in question (a Lexicon advocate and non-TAG supporter) leaked a dealer-specific memo onto his site and referenced it from this one.

My comments were partly made in jest and thought it was a welcome piece of news after a person in question started an unpleasant situation.

    http://www.jobmagic.co.uk/job/2127529/

Job advert for a Senior Design Engineer at a Cambridge firm, quote:
"Currently the team is working on our second generation DVD player, the DVD192R, which is at an advanced stage and will enter production later this year."

So it looks like there will be new products (and DVD32R upgrade) released.

I’m sure Tantalus’ remarks were made in jest, but for the record, all reviewers, editors and the like own some equipment or other. I own an MC-12B so that does make me a Lexicon supporter to a certain degree, but I also own Meridian gear, Bryston, Rotel and others.

It really is a stretch to suggest that hardware affiliations have a bearing on this story any more than any of the other good or bad news we (as journalists) bring to our readers. The TAG release was given to me by another industry member, it didn’t come directly from a TAG dealer nor was it proactively sought, but as it was a scoop at the time was posted on the site as, I think everyone will agree, it was of fairly widespread interest. What’s that old saying about “don’t shoot the messenger”? :suicide:

And for what it’s worth, I’m right behind whatever TAG does to help its current customers with upgrades, support etc. As I’ve said all along, as far as I’m concerned they’re the ones that really matter so this part of the conversation is now somewhat moot.

One thing that I’d like to make patently clear however, is that I “didn’t start this situation”, unfortunately whatever corporate mess they may or may not be in is wholly of TAG’s own making.

    Anthony and Plumb, smart guys!

No new products, I doubt anyone will ever see HDMI on the AV32R, even the DP. You will be forced to the AV192 or the now VERY able competition.......

I have emailed EVERY premium dealer and will collage the replies but after this Tag self destruction I am left with the opinion Tag just doesn't have enough support anymore.

Stuart for the recort is the messenger and a more eminient one in AV circles I can not think off, and independent now I wish I could say the same of every CEO..........

Not sure about dealers but TM Audio will have this satisfied costumer support. The ownership of their wonderful AV32R processor for the last 3 years has nothing but very enjoyable.

More importantly the couple of hundred brave souls who just made sure TAG reached their sales target for the year can now feel very reassured that they made the right decision.

Whereas the customers currently offloading their Meridian equipment quickly have been sold a line by their NDA ignoring dealers methinks.

I would hate to see Tag go, however I wonder if this is enough to give the public enough confidence to buy their products. Gear at this level is a big commitment and I am not sure if enough people will commit.

The handling of this affair was awful and extreemly damaging. If this was a public company share holders would be demanding a head to roll over this but we will have to wait and see.
