A great film I almost never heard of.

'Once were warriors' circa 1995. It popped up on the syllabus for my A level film Studies course.

About modern Mauris (sp?) and their descendants in New Zealand. Domestic violence, street gangs, alchoholics, arrogance.

It was almost an NZ version of a Loach flick, but the *happy* ending twisted it back towards Hollywood just a teeny bit. It really does get brutal in places and could offend quite a few people, the only downers are the under developed sub plots - otherwise it's good viewing.

It's out on VHS and DVD and is quite easy to get hold of (HMV stock it).

I completely forgot about that, a slight change of theme I'm sure you'll agree.

Fantastic film which always ties for my no 1 film along with `Clerks`used to have this on Criterion laser disc with commentary and many other goodies, such a great film, with all round excellent acting/script/filming/everything - just waiting for someone to release it properly with all the extras in the manner it deserves, and not that awfull 4.3 abomination that has been released on region 2,although I may have to buy it just to have a copy of some sorts untill such time

How strange and coincidental that threads should be started about your two favourite films at the same time, Bone Daddy... spooky.

This must mean that I'm a telepath, which hereby allows me to charge £2.99 a minute! Woohoo!
