If you want a quiet one, then Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 80GB. Otherwise IBM or you could try the Maxtor. I've had good experiences with all three, but I reckon the Seagate is probably the quietest.

If you are after the ultimate in performance I wouldn't worry too much about the ATA133. There's one new Western Digital Caviar around with a much bigger cache (8MB) which should be good for editing.

I agree about the Western Digitals. Toms hardware (www.tomshardware.com) rates them highly and the 80 gigs are £100 + VAT from www.ebuyer.com.
I've ordered 2 for raid mirroring.

I dunno, the Maxtor Diamondmax 7200 takes some beating, and surely, the new Western Digitals with the 8Mb cache are nearer £200-00 ?
The cheaper ones only have the 2Mb cache, the same as most of it's simarly priced competitors.
