Firstly, can you buy 32" TV's with 1080p? If so what's the best one?

As a matter of interest, why do want 1080p in a 32"?

So there is no such TV as le32m87bdx (only le32m86bdx).

Strange then that ED, R Whtye and lots of other dealers are advertising them?

It's a Playstation 3 Blu Ray issue. At the moment my current set is very poor with Blu ray (due to Sony's stupid decision to not support 720p), and a 37" would push me for space.

I'm only looking into it at the moment, hence my post here.

Also it would be nice to get 1080p from my PS3 and 360 (I'm thinking of "upgrading" to the Elite)

I have just bought a 32" Toshiba32C3030DB which is advertised as a 720p/1080i TV yet the instruction book says it does 1080p and also when I connected my PS3 via HDMI it autodetected right up to 1080p.Superb picture anyway, though I am not really sure whether it really is 1080p.

Retailers get the codes wrong on new products all the time, it's no surprise. There's absolutely no point in releasing a 32" 1080p unless you're using it as a giant computer monitor, and that's a pretty limited market.

I disagree with you. There wouldn't normally be a point, but the PS3 has created a need.

Sorry mate but you are not going to be able to tell the difference between 720p/1080p on a 32" set, no-one can. That's why they don't exist.

I totally agree with you. You are however missing my point. I will be able to tell the difference between 480p and 1080p.

I have a 720p/1080i set!!! I really don't see why you can't grasp the issue here. SONY DOES NOT SUPPORT 720P FOR BLU RAY!!! (on the ps3)

It's not, it's 1080p downscaled to 768p (the res of your panel).

But it raises an interesting point:

Several 32" panels (from toshiba, panasonic etc) although they can't display all 1080 lines of a 1080p input will take 1080p input and so don't do any deinterlacing (lie they would with 1080i input).

Could be the answer for the poster with no room for a 37" set?

You could argue that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p, but I'd disagree with that.

The only way Sony allows me to view Blu Ray is at 480p, or 1080i. That is why I would like a 1080p TV, but at a 32" size.

Also my current HDTV doesn't have HDMI, so it'll be nice to have that also.

Blu-Rays on the PS3 output at 1080i & 1080p, if you have a 1080i set then it shouldn't be outputting at 480p.

Don't know if you posted that before looking at my post, but it does output at either 480p or 1080i, which, on my TV at least, look very poor.

My 360 plays HD-DVD's at 720p and they look great!

Guess you have a lousy scaler, which is unfortunate. However, since 32" 1080p panels don't exist, you have two options:

- buy another 32" set with a better 1080i scaler
- buy a 37" 1080p set

If that is true, what is a good 37" 1080p capable TV? I'm not looking a mega money, looking sub-£1000, which will probably be none. :(

You want a set that accepts 1080p, not necessarily one that displays 1080 lines of resolution. Of which there should be many, as mentioned.

I'm not sure if it is as simple as that with the PS3.
