A Cure for Wellness Blu-ray Review & Comments

Thanks for the review Cas,the scene with the young lady and a bathtub of eel last long ?,had some eel once to eat out while camping,i was sick :(,alway put me of eel since.
Sound like one to buy, just turn away at eel scene :D

Um, this film is probably your nemesis then.

Whilst the bathtub scene is a 2 sec hallucination, eels play a pretty prominent part in this movie, and nightmares/hallucinations about eels too. They should have just called it The Eels.

This has to be one of the best looking Blu-ray's I have seen in a long time, there's life in the old dog yet.

I enjoyed the movie but it seems to switch genre's a lot. It could have been called Shutter Island 2 - A Cure for weirdness.

Edit - @Casimir Harlow I agree about the train shot early on, I actually gasped!:D

The PQ is truly reference, maybe the best i have seen from a Blu-ray at home. The movie is a modern gothic horror, shame it bombed at the box office.

It is on 4k Blu-ray too,but only in Norway,i think.Somebody can import and report :)

I honestly think the difference would be minimal this is that good.

Maybe, but even a minimal upgrade would place it at the top of the 4k releases.

I am still on the fence for importing the Neon Demon 4k as it is SDR only.No idea about the 4k of the Cure.

Thanks for the review Cas,

Now the question is, do I wait for the 4K version? HDR could make this one shine from what I am reading :)

Best one I've seen is The Lady in the Van. Stunning, had xv colour too and the Panny Plasma picked it up and came up with the xv colour message when starting the blu ray.

Might have to try this, but Amazon UK user reviews often pan it as awful with one star.. it only gets 3.5 overall..

And the Marvel movies have very high rating...

The Neon Demon has an even lower score, but it was in my best of the year list.

These types of movies are just not to everybody's taste.

Yeah I kind of take that view too. I've seen very low scores for movies I personally love .. That does make it it difficult when deciding though.. You don't always want to buy on faith. Some Amazon reviews are spot on, some are way off.

Received this the other day and looking forward to watching . Experience partially ruined already by FoxRedeem and their poor CS . Digital Copy would not redeem and its like pulling teeth trying to get a replacement :O(

A bit on the long side, but I really liked it.

Stunning visuals and an interesting story.

I enjoy kooky films like this that take their time although the last act was a bit protracted . However , its not half as entertaining as FoxRedeem who , in their infinite wisdom , have decided that since my missus had a mishap redeeming the digital copy the technology simply does not exist anywhere on this planet to issue a replacement code and therefore we will have to do without entirely. Forever. Tough. Well , thats nice . But its not going to convince anyone to start their 'digital collection' now is it ?

Muppets.
