First off the specs: (AGP MOBO)

    AMD XP 2600+
    1 gig of value ram
HIS Excalibur 9800 pro platinum (oc'd a little bit)
    120 gb HD
    windows XP
    350 psu

Ok the question is I have the above card at the moment and I play mostly counter strike source.(I get about 79 fps in the stress test and about 40 ish in game) I have just read that there is a nvidia 6800gs on AGP and I can get one for about £130 ish. Now I know I need a new PC but would rather wait till nearer the end of the year, so is it worth the upgrade as the cpu is a bit of a bottleneck now ? thanks for any help and advice. Cheers

The 6800GT is a considerably better card more naturally aligned with the x800 series cards. However Source coding is kind on ATI cards and an AGP card bought now for £130 will lose a lot if resold second hand later. I would save your cash and put it towards the best you can afford later.

There's also the 7800GS AGP card now, but that will set you back nearer £200  Having said that, I'm considering getting one :D

yeah iv'e just been reading up on it in this months custom pc they tested it in a AMD 2500+ pc (and i have the 2600+) so it was a nice review for me. I must admit im leaning towards the 7800 now as that upgrade should make the pc see another year at best. cheers for your help gents.
