Hi, If any of you 9527 owners are suffering with black bars and havent contacted their retailer about it. Then please do so now.

Ive just been on the phone to Philips"Customer care":p to discuss my black bars. Apparently it isnt an issue with them.
They didnt know what I was talking about. Theres me thinking that they were aware of the problem, when in fact they are totally oblivious.
I tried getting through to tech. dep, not a chance m8. You need to know the secret code to talk to them. So I said to the lady at CC would Philips be aware of the problem if they were flooded with calls from P****d off owners?
She said yes.....

So basically to make them AWARE of the problem they have to be pestered a lot it seems. Then maybe they will do something about it. So get ringing!!!

btw I mentioned the ferrite rings to my service engineer who contacted Philips as well. guess what he didnt get anywhere either.

how the hell can the not be aware of it. looks like this could go the same way as the sony SB problem.

This dark bars issue needs to be sorted out once and for all. All 9527 owners should indeed make some noise about the problem. We should all phone or email Philips. I am going to email them now. The more correspondence they get about the problem the better. Hopefully it should wake them up to this problem and for them to get an official fix out to service centres.

Its not just the 9527 - the 9617 has the same problem -- sometimes its almost un-noticeable , at other times it seems quite bad-- according to my local Philips specialist Dealer who I bought mine from " I'm the only one who has mentioned it" which either means I'm exceptionally picky or most other people don't pay that much attention !!

Pfff, I went to a tv-dealer once and asked them if it's true that they get a lot of tv's, including Philips, back for repair.
"Yes, a lot of tv's brake down, but we have NO problems whatsoever with Philips!"
YEAH RIGHT!!! :clown:

Technical department Philips in Holland are saying that they know about it. They say it should only affect ext3, and wait for it. THEY ARENT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT ISNT A PROBLEM!!!!!!!!

Just had a call from comet, but they spoke to missus, as i was out.

They are sending engineer round next saturday with a part to fix the dark bars problem.

I presume the part is the ferrite ring, as i mentioned this to engineer when he came last week.

The engineer said last week that the ferrite ring was a philips part. He said he was going to speak to philips about it, dont know if he has done. I'll find out more when he comes next week.

Fingers Crossed.

Let us know how it goes. Keep us all informed.

What annoys me is the inconsistency of the knowledge of engineers. My comet engineer didnt acknowledge that is was a problem. He hadnt seen it before and said it was 'normal'. "These new TV's are so clear that they show up any little problems with the circuits" was basically what he said/implied. He even compared it to his Panasonic tv which had 'sparkly' patches which he was perfectly happy to live with. Doh!!!

I had a Tosh RP set which was 2 months old that had a ripple in the screen and red staining in the bottom corners which was bought from one of the superstores which I won't name. But after lots of calls to customer care and several engineers coming out they said it was a common problem on all Tosh Rp and that I had to lump it. This went on for over a month so I got on to Consumer affairs in my town and they sent me a standard letter which I just needed to add dates to and give details of the problems and the engineers poor excuses for what was wrong with the Tv. Hey presto a week later I get a phone call from the superstores service manager saying go and select a new TV of your choice or the same one if I like and just quote a service number which she gave me. Its amazing what fancy legal talk and a trip to a small claims court can do for you. Anyway, I have copies of the letter from consumer advice and my personal letter to them if anybody is getting nowhere with there tv problem and wants a copy.
