If that is 92" diagonal then it should be ok, wouldn't personally want to go any bigger but from 12.5 foot it will be sizeable but not ridiculous.

I view 103" from about 15ft and I've no problems at all. It's surprising how quickly you get used to it. It's just like being at the pictures - which was exactly the whole point of the exercise.

    Regards

i share the same view. whilst i only have a 50" plasma, the idea of getting a big screen is to try and get a more cinematic view. whilst there is suggested viewing distances stickied elsewhere on this site, i think it's just down to taste. at the cinema the screen usually takes up most/all of your visual field from 20/30 or so foot away. i sit about 6-8 foot away from my 50" and it doesn't fill my whole field of vision, so a screen twice the size sitting twice as far back is going to have a similar effect, tho probably a lot better.

when i upgraded from 32" CRT to 50" plasma, the screen being almost 3 times the size, it did seem big at first, but i used to sit closer to the smaller screen, now i sit further back. whilst 50" is a reasonably big screen, i don't consider it as OTT as folks with say 28" screens when they visit

as long as the quality isn't poor, the bigger the better i say! :smashin:

The only thing I will say about an image this big with a DLP is that you increase the chances of seeing rainbows as your eyes dart from side to side to take in the complete picture. It may not be a problem for you but others may find it an issue.
    Just a thought!

I sit this far away from a 92" screen, I wouldn't worry about your friends laughing at you. I think they will be green with envy when they see the quality of the picture

i did 120" at about 9 feet. very, very nice, but perhaps a bit too close/big for some DVDs (quality is pretty erratic). great for HD though.

I sit around 10 feet back from a 106" screen and see no problems.

I like the fact that I have to move my head to keep up with the action. Gives it a more cinematic feel. Takes up practially the whole wall. See sig for piccies.

DVDs look great, HD stuff looks awesome, only Sky's poor picture looks rough, especially the football (Last thing you want to see looking poor on a screen that size, but hey, that's Sky for you). I've seen HD football and it looks terrific at that size.

96inch wide screen and 13 feet away works for me:cool: Doesn't fill my field of vision and I don't have to move my head to watch what's going on. The only comments I've ever had are compliments - however if that's in a small room or going to dominate one end of a room, I might see some flack coming in for you

will be just like the cinema mate, just make sure you have a decent dvd player and hook it up via component or hdmi and they will be impressed

i sit about 11ft away from a 92" screen and it's just the right size.

it is borderline though, any bigger and it would be too big to view properly :)

Normal rule of thumb is 2 x screen width. So if you have a 6ft wide screen, then you should not be closer than 12ft from the screen otherwise you may be too close.

On the other hand, go with what feels good!

I am interested to see what others are doing here as I am considering getting a 105" screen at about 10ft or so.

Not sure if its too big or not really but my general rule of thumb is that the words TOO BIG and SCREEN should never go together!!!!
