Well my Panasonic 42pwd6 is not working and its only 9 months old!!!

Worked fine in the morning, usual great picture, four hours later turned it on from standby and nothing happened, but the red standby button was now flashing,
so i turned it off and on again at the power switch on the plasma and what happens is this, nothing for about 5 seconds then a 10 inch vertical band of yellow, blue, green and white tartan pattern for one second then nothing again and the standby button is flashing red.

Its has been picked up by a local panasonic repair agent and AV Sales were very helpful in sorting this out for me (as they were the supplier) but i am gutted that it went wrong so quickly.

Its been four days and so far no news from the repair people, im going to ring them in the morning.

So has anybody had this happen or got any idea what has gone wrong?

I thought panasonic were supposed to provide a loaner while it was being repaired.

Well, if it's really busted, you haven't a worry in the world, they will have to make you an offer, maybe involving a PWD8, so cheer up. You either get your lovely 6 back, or a shiny new 8 for a nominal fee.

Would you be happy if you bought a car and after 9 months it needed fixing and you were told that you would get no courtesy and would have to get the bus to work for 4 weeks?

I think not. Sounds like you've been too nice to them!

    Hope it sorts out though.

The tuner on my Samsung (bought in January) stopped working. When I went back, I was told I could have whatever I wanted for the same price I paid for it.
Having read on these forums about how good Pannies are, I'm now expecting a HD ready one this Thursday. :)
Yesterday I read the thread on problems with image retention on the latest Pannies.
But in answer to your question, yes, you should generally get the latest generation plasma, because if will be the same value as the one you are returning.
