I (think!?!) I have decided on a Panasonic E95, and am wondering about which DVD-R discs to go for (that will also be used in a PC DVD Re-writer - probably NEC 3500a)?

    SVP have the following 8x:-

    {DV 3197} Tuffdisc (8x) DVD-R Spindle Tubs of 100

Media Code is shown as TTG02

    Are these any good?

Alternatively, which 8x discs would you recommend, from SVP or any other reputable suppliers?

Although I like to save money where possible, I am happy to pay more when it is genuinely worth it – I am looking for good quality, reliable discs, that aren't going to stop working in a year's time.

    TIA.

TTG appear to be made by CMC.

For comparison with other disc manufacturers and brands:

For the needs you describe, use Ricoh, MCC or TY (the latter two also available at SVP).

    Struan,

I used Bulkpaq 8x Orange because they were dirt cheap from ebuyer (I used the 4x before that) for my Panny e55. Both diskc are fine and they use crappy princo dye.

The Bulkpaqs are absolutely awful for authoring edited dvd's on the pc. The Panasonic really struggles to read them. I get blocky artefacts in the video and the whole thing tends to stutter along.

I bought a pack of Datwarite Greys from SVP last weekend and they are superb. I've written five dvd's with them and they have been faultless. They use a fuji dye, which apparently is a better quality than Princo. My PC DVD writer is a sony dwu-14a, by the way.

I think the datawrites are a good compromise between price and performance.

    Hope this helps

Yes, I did delete my last message, when I read the further info. at SVP about Tuffdisc being CMC - my apologies.
    So, you think {DV 3169} , {DV 3139} or {DV 3138} , from SVP, are the ones to consider?

    TIA.
