    Just bought a Philips 890(?o-dear?)
    Seems to jump about chapters, will it settle or shoul I wave goodbye.MR playing R1 5th element

    There have been many problems reported with the older Philips 985 machines on the http://dvdplusrw.org site. The 880 and 890 machines have been much less problematic. I have looked on that forum and cannot see any obvious similar problems but you may like to check yourself. I bought an 890 in November and it has been extremely reliable, after some early user errors that is.

    I rarely use mine for pre-recorded DVDs and therefore have never put it to your sort of test.

    Thanks, it looked like the fault was a "blob" on the disc, seemed ok later. Strangely the pre film warnings are not FBI but Asian, yet do show FBI on my Sony 900v MR - very strange!
