Having read the thread about "the Breakfast Club" not being released for a while I got to thinking of other films I liked about that time. Not sure if I still would but I'm gonna buy them to see if I do.

The problem is it was a good while ago when I was just a lad so lets have some reminiscing and list some films of that era you enjoyed to remind me.

    The obvious are: Breakfast Club
    Weird Science
    Ferris Buller(?)
    St. Elmo's Fire
Young guns (abit later I feel)
    Pretty in Pink

So can anyone think of more about that time. I guess they were the brat pack films of that era.

-Karate Kid (Mr Miyagi is hilarious!)
-Some Kind of Wonderful (a John 'Breakfast Club' Hughes film)
    -Can't Buy me Love.
    -Footloose.
    -Adventures in babysitting

.. good clean teen films. I loved 'em all including the ones already listed. Enjoyably nostalgic.

Was that with a girl drummer in it? Think I remember that.

Have they released any of those Hip Hop, Body Popping style films on DVD yet? You know the ones, all about the street kids made good through break dancing. The only title I am able to recall is something like 'Electric Boogaloo'. They're for a friend you understand......

They're coming thick and fast now. Defo getting the sure thing as I have it on vt. and still watch it. One of very few films I've watched a few times.
Better off dead was really good as well. So was Soul man. Some oddly I can remember the titles and covers of the vt but not what the film was about? What was my science project about. That rings a bell :)

Right then, off to see if I can get these. Hope I enjoy them as much this time 'cos the memory of them was good. I was 14/15 in '85 and video nights were something to look forward to . Oh the joy of an infrared remote control video. :D

My science project was released in 1985 and starred John Stockwell & Dennis Hopper who played a whacky high school teacher.
I haven't seen this movie for years, but I remember renting the video quite a few times in my youth.
The movie is about Michael Harlin (played by Stockwell) who needs an A for his science project or else he flunks the course as the American's would say. He find a mysterious orb in a military junk yard, which isn't from this earth and trys to pass it off as his science project. Things get out of hand when the orb creats a vortex causing a rift in time. The film reminds me alot of Weird science for its zany oddness. There's of course a love interest and there's no surprises in the end when the hero teen gets an A for his science project and the girl. The jocks in the film play homage to Star Wars in one scene when they wear Storm Trooper helmets. Great fun!
