Hi all, ive been trying to make a decision now for about 3 weeks on what tv i want. I want the best value for money from a trusted shop / site.

    heres what i need

    Good SD picture
    Xbox 360 via hdmi
    Pc input
    37 to 40 inch screen

Thats it really! there is a 42 inch LG plasma in my local teco which takes my fancy, its the 42PT85 but the blueray player thats hooked upto it seems to judder abit on some screens, they keep showing a animal program with like a helicopter chasing things accross the desert, and u can see stutter. The people in there are useless and cant hook it up to show me what SD picture is like, besides i think 42 might be a tad too big. i sit about 7 to 8ft away

I just bought the Samsung Le40r88bd for £583 from pixmania but they have run out of stock now.

I saw this in Currys and the picture looks OK on freeview.

You can get a better TV for your money maybe with 1080P.

Best thing to do is have a look at these in Comit or Currys.

Sticky thread at the top of the forum: Toshiba X3030 which can be picked up for about £800. 42", 1080p. I'm looking at it myself for a HDMI'ed 360 too. Just awaiting response to a couple of questions posted in that thread. :)

As it happens I purchased a Samsung LE-40M87 last week for £749 and very pleased with my purchase.

Almost went for the Panasonic 37PX70 instead, but the lure of Full HD regardless of any real benefit or not plus 15,000:1 contrast and the piano black styling of the Sansung won me other in the end.

Changing from a 36inch Sony CRT I have to admit SD picture quality is not as good but every HD source looks fantastic.

I'm new to this game of LCD TVs but IMO I really don't think you can go to far wrong with the LE40M87.
