Downloaded the trial for this one last night and what a pleasant surprise, lovely little pool game and probably the best one on Xbox Live(for my taste anyway).

Going to purchase next time I'm on as will be a nice little game to play with the wife, it's so simplistic I think anyone can play it, and the graphics and physics seem very good to. Well worth the asking price of 80 points I think.

No, it's offline only. Online would have been a nice option but not a deal killer for this game I think as not sure it's competetive enough to be played online. It's simple nature makes it a better wifey/family game I think.

Would have got it if it were on-line. The wife hates pool.
Ill have to fire up Bankshot again at some point.

Hello gamers, I am Maximinus the creator of this game. I'm glad you liked it. As regards online play, I'm considering a future release with online multiplayer and avatar support, that would be priced at 240 points (3$). What do you think about it?

    Bye

    Nice find. Just bought it.

240 MS Points is only £2 so I'd be interested in a sequel with online multiplayer and avatar support, definitely.

Hi Maximinus, first of all great work with 8 Ball Champion, it's a cracking little game:smashin:

As for the future release with online and avatar support at 240 points, another  from me.

One thing I would like to see implemeneted if you do make a sequel, would be the possibility to rotate the table(or camera angle around the table), it can be difficult lining up the shots that are close to the back cushion.

Another :smashin: to online support, I don't really care about the avatars but would like to see this added to our wee indie nights, 240 seems a fair price for the upgrade too

I've played a bit of this now. I think the controls are a bit too sensitive. The pockets are tight too, although that's not necessarily a negative. I dunno which version of pool rules this game uses, but you can hit any ball and then pocket one of your own and it's still not a foul, even if you hit the black first.

Didn't notice that last bit, very odd rule set if so.

As for the sensitivity, you do realise you use both sticks, one is for faster movement and the other slower for precision?

    Hello again UK gamers,

DJSigma : your remarks are very relevant.

As regards the pocket size, there is actually an issue with the scaling between the balls and the pockets. The balls should be almost half smaller to be scaled correctly (thus the pocket would be relatively bigger). I will correct this with an update.

For the rules : I decided to implement "soft / casual" rules. Thus, there is no foul if you do not hit your own color ball first. Also, you don't shoot twice after a foul. This is a design decision, I wanted to have simple rules.

The great feedback I see in this thread makes me more inclined for a future release, with more features : online multiplayer and avatar support. I may implement all the official rules for "US 8 ball" pool in this next version.

I've also noted the "rotate camera" feature suggested by Tetlee.

Thank you everyone for the great comments I see in this thread.

PS / fun fact : the repartition by country of the sales of this game are quite unusual : 29.4 % of its sales came from the UK (49% for the USA). This is the biggest UK share I have seen in all of my games: for my other games it was 11%. On the first day of release of 8 Ball Pool Champion, it was 38% for the UK! Looks like you like pool.

i used to play that type of game in proper pool years ago, we used it as it promotes potting and clearing up from the break, it's more a case of practice rules rather than actual game rules, more for the potting practice, if u potted the white ball then there was no foul u just put the white ball on the table and the opponent takes the next shot.

Yeah. I still think the lower sensitivity control is a little too sensitive though.

Pool is a very popular pub game in the UK so I can see why it sold well here, plus when you look at screenshots, it looks like "UK pool" rather than "American pool" if you know what I mean. It's probably down to the green baize and the size of the balls compared to the size of the table. If you put in an option to have red and yellow balls instead of stripes and solids, that'll be even more authentic to the UK.
