    Hi,

Going to start a home cinema system starting with a marantz 5200.
Need help to choose from either 4 wharfedales 8.1 + center or
    4 b&w 601 s3 + center.
The wharfedales would be half the price of the b&w.
    Any info would help.

    Thanks,

    mconn

    Hi,

I can't speak for the B&W but if you go for the Wharfedales I would consider spending the extra 30 quid on the 8.2s.

I originally had 8.1s which were okay but I wasn't overly impressed, then returned them for the 8.2s and they sound much better in my opinion!

Ive got the 8.2,s and the centre (maple) and the sound great www.qed-uk.com do them for :-

    £83.83,,,,,,,,Centre
    £102.81,,,,,,,,8.2's pair
£122.94,,,,,,,,8.3's pair (floorstanders maple, blacks a bit more)

At the moment Ive got Gale mini monitors as rears but i might get the 8.3 floorstanders in the future a move the 8.2's to the rear (If we move into a house with a bigger living room to fit them in;) )

have the 601s3's and the LCR60s3 and i'm very pleased with them. The 600s3 (which is smaller then the 601s3) has just come out this week and i think they would do (as a matter of fact B&W recommend them for rears) for your surrounds, about £150. you'll pick up the 601s3's for about £215 maybe less. Try superfi That's where i got mine

Interesting to see that the gif had been downloaded five times before I got to it. Must be some closet Palace fans out there.

    Sean,

you might be interested to know that the swear word censor works on PMs as well so there wasn't much of your message that I could actually read.

I am no expert but they just sounded more open and the sound a bit fuller. They can probably handle bass better than the 8.1s. I certainly think the extra 30 quid is worth it though.
