    Hi,

I'm a bit puzzled between all those resolution and what to use to have my system set to optimal performance.

For the sources I use a PS3 (Blu-Ray and DVD Upscaling) and a Humax HDCI-2000 (720P Digital sat).

All of this is connected to my projector Hitachi PJ-TX300 1280x720 720P or 1080i using HDMI.

Should I set the whole chain to 720P, or keep it on 1080i?

Since your projector's native resolution is 720p, that's what I'd use. I'd certainly try to avoid using an interlaced format (i) and stick with progressive scan (p).

Having said that, if it was my set-up, I'd try both to see if I could actually see any difference. My guess is that the 720p image might be slightly cleaner.

Thanks, I'll try changing the complete chain to 720P.

After some reading I also understood that 1080i is actually 2 x 540 lines at 30Hz and 720P is 720 lines at 60Hz.
