    Hi all,

I have a Pioneer PDP505XDE Plasma screen, and have always known that when I play from sources outputting at 720p (i.e. XBOX360 or Pioneer 868 DVD Player), the screen shows that it's running at 750p.

I've never payed that much attention to it simply because it just looks fantastic, but now curiousity has got the better of me.

    Anybody care to explain?

    Thanks,
    Parm

750 refers to the total lines in the signal with 720 of them being visible...the other 30 being used for the timing data (front porch, sync width and back porch).

A 1080p signal will either report back 1125p or 1250p depending on it's timing.

    Cheers, Lee
