I have been runnning my 360 at 720p but just noticed that my Z3 projector supprts 1080i.

Is it worth changing to this other hdtv settings?

Look forward to your views.

Thanks

Richard

Can it support 1080p? Go for that if you can.

hed have to have a brand new projector and spent well over 5k, so id say he doesnt

Im not going into the tech details but 1080i shows more lines per frame whereas 720p only shows 720 lines but refreshes them better (i think)

I use 720p for the x box as well as Sky. There isnt much difference between the two.

Try them both out and see which one suits you better. There is no better one as 720p sacrifices lines while 1080i sacrifices refresh rates

It'll take you, what ? 30 seconds to change the 360's setting?

Why not just try it?

See if you think it is better. :D

The majority (if not all) of the X360's games are NATIVE @ 720p. So your best setting for games on your PJ is 720p - ie NO scaling required from either the Xbox (at the source end) or PJ (the display end).

Things change when you start running the HD-DVD Player (1080p Source) but for games I would stick with 720p on both your Xbox and PJ ...

Why don't you just try it and let your eyes tell you what setting to have?

720p is more pixels than 1080i, unless you have a screen, PJ, etc that has native res of 1920*1080. If you have the latter, I'd say go for 1080i (or naturally 1080p if supported), otherwise 720p is the way to go, otherwise the 1080i image on a screen that supports 1366*768 for example (as a lot of screens do these days) will be a scaled image.

1080i only ever shows a maximum of 540 lines at any one time due to the nature of an interlaced image. So the max. res at any one time of 1080i on a native 1920*1080 panel will be 1920*540. This works out to around 1.3 million pixels. For Xbox 360 owners who have panels that support 1360*768, this works out to around 1.4 million pixels. So on a panel that is around 720p, go for that. If you have native 1920*1080 panel, go for 1080i (or 1080p, if possible). As already stated though, 360 games are usually native 720p...
