Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but it seemed the best choice.

I am looking at buying a 7.1 amp and 7.1 speakers.

My concern is that the seating area is against the back wall, and with my current 5.1 setup I have the rear speakers to the side of the seating area which is fine.

With two additional rear speakers, will I have a problem with the sofa being against the wall, and hence the two rear's directly above it?

    Thanks

    Darren

Possibly. I am in the same position which is why I have stayed with 5.1

I'm in same boat as well (centre/back sofa can only go against a wall), so I think this is relevant to this thread. I also have a door in the back, right corner meaning I cannot have two rear speakers on the side walls, unless I place them higher up so that that the right rear can clear the door frame.

What rear speaker positions (kef eggs 2005.2) would you recommend - back wall or side walls, but higher up?
    :lease:

How about in-ceiling speakers  Not sure if the would work as they would be firing straight down! Maybe worth a try?

Well I have bit the bullet and just ordered a Yamaha RXV650 and 7.1's worth of Mordaunt Short Premiers.

I will post back once setup and let you know if it does sound ok in this layout.
