I'm looking too but everywhere you look they have conflicting availability dates :(
Some places are begining to get low volumes (like overclockers) but I think for larger volumes it's gonna be at least another 3-4 weeks unless you pre-ordered some time ago.
I think it's been too long in coming personally and I may even wait for the next generation at this rate. At least they'll hopefully have pci express and I'll probably go the whole hog and get an AMD 64 bit cpu while I'm at it. Those chips are pretty expensive at the moment (some are even >£500 alone) any ideas when they'll come down to more respectable levels as that's a bit too much for me.

i think amds chip process is proving to be more expensive then it thought it would be.

There getting pretty close to intel prices, or it could be they know theyve got the best chips at the mo so want to milk it.

Price reductions will come with the usual 6mth cycle, but until intel begin to compete again i doubt by much.

out of interest which card are you going for. i have always bought Nvidia but ATI is looking good, but from the latest lot of bench mark results on the web, it seems Nvidia is slightly ahead this time, but its an extra £50 lead im not sure i can justify

the 6800 ultra seems to run HALO at mind altering speeds which is a big up for me

I've always had Nvidia cards before I bought my Radeon 9700pro about 18 months ago (except when 3dfx had their vodoo's out lol). The PQ on ATI cards tend to be better imo but I'll always go for the best performing card for the best price. I'm not a fan boy of either and will get the card that's the best value for money. At this time it looks to be the x800 as this is the most competatively priced card . Not sure wether I'll go for the pro and overclock (most ppl seem to be able to clock to xt speeds but your still missing out on all the 16 pipes as you only get 12 unlocked with the pro unless you mode the card)or just bite the bullet and get the XT.
I'm getting a bonus of around £300 in July so I know what I'll be spending mine on

    Whats a bonus?........

Still i think i`ll just buy which ever comes out first and be done with it as both perform about the same.

Now just got to find one

remember the Nvidia needs 2 molex conectors and a minimum of 480 Watt PS.
also takes up 2 slots . The ATI just fits right in as usual

It doesn't need a 480 watt just a quality 350 watt, which is generally better than a no name 480.

The new AMD socket 939 platform is getting some rave reviews, so I think I may do that upgrade first.

Nvidia have revised the power requirments for the 6800 graphics cards from two molex connections and 480 watts to one connection and 350 watts.

All the reviews I have seen rate the x800 xt above the nvidia. Does seem to be a nice piece of kit. As of yet no one in the review circles says that the Nvidia is better.

For once there as good as each other, some games perform
better with the ultra and some with the XT, ultra features some newer shaders etc while the xt has the new 3dc compression feature that some games may feature.

all in all both very solid efforts. which ever arrives first i will buy. but there is a nats nut difference in most *real*
    benchmarks.

cant be assed with manufacturer worship(fanboys hey)

I think I'll probably go for the x800 xt over the ultra as the x800 is about £50 cheaper with more or less the same performance (at the moment anyhow). The ultra is huge in comparison taking up a pci slot space and is longer which may overlap the memory chips with my mobo. Still I won't be buying either until there is anywhere that stocks them:(

    Is that the 3DConnect Pro?
Cheapest I've seen is about £140 (plus p&p) from Overclockers & Savastore.

Where have you seen it for £137?

My clan mate has had his x800 for about three weeks, but there is a big delay on his Nvidia 6800 (he ordered it at the same time as the ati)

When he gets the 6800 he's going to compare the two and send out the lesser card to some lucky clan member

Edit just noticed u had x880 not x800. Is this not just the pci express version of the card or is it a faster better specked card.?

Well it`ll probaly arrive the same time as the 6800ultra
and from my searches (depending on what sites are promoting which card...not all been honest or unbiased reviews as ever...) the 6800ultra is a tad faster for the games i play most, but as said before both cards offer stunning performance and theres a nats nut between them

Check out this mini unbiased review of both the Asus x800 xt and the asus version of the 6800 ultra.(with benchmarks)
