65 Q7G HD Picture Quality

Hi All,

We recently brought a Hisense 65 Q7G from Costco to replace a 7 year old 1080P Panasonic LED TV as we wanted to upgrade to a 4K TV.

I did tons of research and Hisense kept coming up as a decent TV for a reasonable price. 4K & HDR content looks really good but where I’m really struggling is on standard HD content which I assume is being upscaled to 4K. It seems particularly bad on darker scenes. The picture seems really pixelated in the dark areas of the scene. I played with the picture settings and was able to improve a bit by taking the brightness down a couple of notches to 47 but then I’m sure I’m losing detail in the dark scenes.
I was wondering if anyone has any pointers that may improve things, I never had this issue with my Panasonic. The good thing is Costco’s return policy, I also looked at the Q9G (H9G) but it’s double the price and I don’t know if I’ll run into the same issue.

Thanks in advance
