6 x 9's

Hi,

I have a set of components up front in my Audi a3 and a sub in the boot. I have 2 amps to run this and it sounds good. However i would like some treble comming from the back of the car too. I know it would make much difference for me sitting in the front, however it will still make it sound fuller and people sitting in the back can hear more treble rather than just bass.

I have a good set of 6 x 9's and am thinking about buying a stealth shelf and putting them in. There are mixed views on this. But my amp will be set to high pass so that little bass and more treble goes though to the 6 x 9's. What do you guys think about this? (Not sure if its a myth but i have heard the 6 x 9's fight the sub for air).

i dont know the science behind it but thats true mate, it will end up sounding crap, worse that you have just now. A lot of people on car forums slate 6X9s, but i think they get a hard time, for me personally where i need all the space i can in my boot they are ideal. A sub for me just isnt practical, but for you already with a sub its a waste of time.

Personally i'd recommend either punting them and buy another set of componets for the rear, or try and mount them somewhere else in the rear, but that could get complicated/expensive.

its true 6x9's do get a hard time and always slated. If you have some front comps and a sub then stick with that. People also hate having speakers in the rear unless you always carry passengers as it drags the sound to the rear of the car and lets face it when you go to a concert you sit facing the stage and not with you back to it
